CarmenCo
CREATING CARMEN
Formed in 2017, multi-prizewinning trio CarmenCo have performed all over England, Scotland and Wales, honing their distinctive approach and performing their own arrangements of orchestral pieces, opera, folk and world music. They often perform from memory and incorporate music, dance and storyline into their concerts, as well as varying instrumentation from solo guitar through guitar duos to voice/flute and two guitars, making their concerts and shows as unique and colourful as the players in the trio.

“CarmenCo are a celestial conception”
Richard Amey, Brighton and Hove Independent

“the playing is exquisite... a delightfully warm, intimate sound”
Susan Elkin, Lark Reviews

The portability of the ensemble (not needing piano) as well as the flexibility of the musicians means that they can perform in small venues, bringing their concerts and shows to audiences in rural areas through rural touring schemes, as well as performing in world-renowned larger venues and festivals such as Kings Place, Buxton Festival and St Martin in the Fields.
Equally at home performing their arrangements of famous orchestral or operatic works by Elgar, Bizet, Mozart and Ginastera as arranging or commissioning new works by contemporary composers such as Steve Goss, Andy Scott and Ian Clarke, CarmenCo’s three musicians push the boundaries of their art, forming a truly unique chamber group. Their concerts present a huge variety of music, performed to a world-class standard, and presented in an informal and often humorous way that leads to a fantastic night out for all classical music lovers:
“There certainly was a buzz as people left having thoroughly enjoyed the evening!”
